In Vitro Selection of Mungbean Genotypes for Drought Tolerance by Polyethylene Glycol Induced Water Defi cit

چکیده

Drought stress is a major constraint affecting growth and yield of several economic crops including mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek]. In vitro selection for drought tolerance an alternative method early determination tolerant plants. The objective this study was to perform in genotypes under water induced by polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000. Seeds 18 were germinated Murashige Skoog (MS) liquid medium supplemented with different concentrations PEG 6000 (0, 8, 12 16%). Germination percentage, promptness index, root length seed vigor seedling fresh weight index dry measured. results showed reduced germination all increasing concentrations. Various responded differentially at 16% PEG. Interestingly, K-851, EG-MG-13, VI000411 A-G, CES 44 higher length, than other genotypes, demonstrating their potential. However, responses need be confi rmed greenhouse and/or fi eld conditions before they can used as parents breeding programs improve tolerance.

Evaluation of Drought Tolerance Indices for Selection of Superior Genotypes in Black Cumin (Nigella sativa L.)

Drought stress is considered as one of the most important constraints to the crop production, including medicinal plants in many arid and semi-arid regions. This study was carried out to determine the most effective indices for drought tolerance and identification of tolerance genotypes under drought conditions in N. sativa. For this purpose, 36 genotypes of N. sativa were tested as a split plo...

Effect of silicon application on wheat seedlings growth under water-deficit stress induced by polyethylene glycol

Silicon is known to ameliorate the deleterious effects of drought on plant growth. We evaluated growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L. CV. Chamran) under Water-Deficit Stress Induced by Polyethylene Glycol as affected by Si application. In this article, the effects of Si (as potassium silicate) on some parameters related to growth, chlorophyll concentration relative water content (RWC), electrol...

Evaluation of Drought Tolerance in Barley Genotypes (Hordeum vulgare L.) using Drought Tolerance Indices

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Drought stress is one of the most important factors in reducing yield and barley production in rainfed arid regions, and counteracting or reducing the effect of stresses as a useful solution to increase barley yield. Therefore, improvement of stress-tolerant and suitable barley cultivars for arid and semi-arid regions is essential. Material and Me...

Effects of drought stresses induced by polyethylene glycol (PEG) on germination of Mongolian pine (Pinus sylvestris

Environmental stress, especially drought stress, can play an important role in the reduction of the plant growth stage, specifically duringgermination in arid and semi arid regions in Iran.. In order to study the effects of drought stress on germination indices in wheat cultivars, an experiment was conducted in factorial form, using a completely randomized design of four replications. In this e...
